Meet the Chef!


Michael Burns, born and raised in Kleve, Germany, is the face behind our authentic German cuisine. At the age of eleven, Michael began working in a kitchen in Germany as a prep cook and dishwasher. Michael went on to culinary school in 2006, where he worked four days a week in a restaurant called Zur Alten Post.

The restaurant was based on the local cuisine in Niederrheinische. The owner of Zur Alten Post opened a new restaurant featuring a local and Mediterranean fusion, where Michael continued on his culinary journey. At the age of 18, he received his culinary degree and began training with one of the best chefs in the area, David Van Uhm.

Eventually, Michael decided to move to the United States to share his love for German cuisine with the rest of us. Michael was the executive chef at Nürnberger Bierhaus in Staten Island for five years before joining us at Bierhaus NYC. Stop in to taste one of Michael’s dishes to instantly be transported to Germany for a homemade meal.
